Read Happy News!

I don't know about you, but I can only take so much negative news in one day. I do not ignore the news channels - in fact, I think I'm quite addicted. However, after 1+ hours of hearing about all of the bad things happening in the world, it's so refreshing to check out Happy News.

Their credo: We believe virtue, goodwill and heroism are hot news. That's why we bring you up-to-the-minute news, geared to lift spirits and inspire lives. Add in a diverse team of Citizen Journalists reporting positive stories from around the world, and you've got one happy place for news.We believe virtue, goodwill and heroism are hot news. Trip to Victor

Last weekend we took a drive to Victor, CO. Don't expect a busy town full of boutiques and cafes. Do expect a town full of character and history. Don't miss the Victor Trading Company. They make the neatest things: homeade candles, gorgeous brooms, unique cookie cutters, and many other things. They always have some very cool antiques. Here's a pic of their famous Broom Wall.

Here are some pictures of our drive to Victor.  Enjoy!

What are you reading?

  What are you reading?
I make the mistake over and over again of reading too many books at once.
Right now - I'm reading two.  Animal, Miracle, Vegetable by Barbara Kingsolver and A Month of Summer by Lisa Wingate.  Lisa lives in the Hill Country of Texas just a few miles from my hometown.  Check out her site www.lisawingate.com

I also love, love, love magazines.  Not all, but some. My faves are: Birds and Blooms, Romantic Homes, Victoria, and all of the Somerset Studio crafting magazines.

Leave me a comment sharing some of your favorite reads!

The Sand Creek Library is now open!

It finally happened!  The Sand Creek Library has been renovated and is now open.  It truly looks amazing.  Thanks to everyone who put in extra hours and dropped by in the last minute to help setup PCs, put books and media on shelves and clean up!  It was an amazing feat to have the library open on time.  Staff pulled together and did a fantastic job!  Again, many, many thanks.  I am so proud of this library.

For those of you who haven't had the chance to drop by let me give you a tour.

Look at the new self-check stations!  They are 3M machines and have been working out great.

What a beautiful and cozy place to read a book.

Need to write a resume, create a presentation or just check our email? Use one of the 26 PCs in the computer lab.

The teens also have four PCs in their hip area of the library.

Let's walk into the Children's area....the castle

A fun place for kids....and parents

If you need to take a break, have a snack in the cafe.

And, if you need help with anything, visit the reference desk.

Congratulations, staff!  And, thanks to our patrons for waiting patiently while we renovated their library.  We hope you are enjoying it!

The 23rd Thing!

Yes, I made it to the 23rd Thing! What is it? We are tasked with writing about the 23 Things Program.

Personally, I thought the 23 Things program was terrific. I use technology every day and am addicted to surfing the web at home, but I learned something new things and found some cool sites. I thought some of the mashups were fun.

My favorite part of the program was learning things about my coworkers through their blogs. I work with some really interesting people. I love learning where people were from, what their hobbies are, and their thoughts about the technologies we used for the 23 Things. I really hope staff keep blogging!

I definitely think we should have a 23 Things - Part II. I think these programs add enrichment to the work we do, are a great creative outlet, and personally I think they are fun.
